Vietnam U20 eliminated from the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers: Apologies without a tactical explanation

When the final whistle in Group C had barely faded, Iran U20 were already celebrating. Vietnam U20 players stood still in front of a half-empty stand. The scoreboard showed 3-1. I am not asking a coach to reveal every secret. But when a qualifying campaign ends without a win, fans deserve an honest assessment. Young football develops when people look directly at numbers. Without numbers, this defeat will only be remembered as a failure. Iran U20 won because they found answers on the pitch. Vietnam U20 could not find theirs. I believe his words came from a sincere heart. But in my long career as a commentator, I have learned that football cannot be sustained by sincerity alone. Sincerity must be accompanied by intelligence. In Nagoya, when a team lost an important match, they did not stop after saying sorry. They reviewed the footage, analyzed each situation, and searched for solutions. Nagoya still echoes in my mind every time I touch a microphone. We need the courage to face numbers, the humility to listen, and the patience to build a generation that can turn aspirations into reality. The pitch does not need poets, but poets need the pitch. For me, the pitch of Vietnam U20 today is an open page in a diary. That page should not be closed by two words of apology. It should be written further with honest analysis, open conversations and brave decisions. Only then can the next generation of Vietnam U20 walk into the qualifiers with a stronger belief, without having to say sorry when they walk out.
